How to clean your binoculars

No matter how careful you are with your optics, the lenses will eventually need to be cleaned. We suggest the following dmethod:

• Use a camel hair brush or a puff of compressed air to remove the bulk of the grime and debris.
• Fold a cleaning cloth or lens tissue in half. Roll it tightly from one end to form a cylinder, and wet the end of with lens cleaning fluid. (Q-tips also work, but often leave strands of cotton on the lens.)
• Start in the center and clean in an overlapping spiral motion toward the outside of the lens. Repeat the process with a new cloth, until the lens is clean.

Proper storage of rubber, roll-down eyecups

Rubber roll-down eyecups will last considerably longer, without drying and cracking, if kept in the extended position during storage.

Avoiding insect repellent

The chemicals used in most insect repellents will harm both the coatings on lenses and the body covering (rubber armor, pebbled leather, plastic, etc.) of your optics. To ensure a long, useful life with your binoculars or spotting scopes, remember to avoid spraying repellents near your equipment, and wash your hands before use.
